Information for Referrers
COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS
We are pleased to accept your new referrals which will be triaged by our physicians to determine whether it is clinically feasible to conduct an initial telehealth appointment with the patient
All telehealth consultations billed under the COVID-19 MBS item numbers will be billed privately at a reduced fee until further notice
We will resume face to face consultations from Wednesday 1 July 2020 but this arrangement will remain subject to Public Health advice.
We are able to facilitate admission for those who are medically unstable
Patients with active foot wounds can be seen by our podiatrists who consult from our rooms Thursday weekly. A referral to Dr Adam Roberts will be required for new patients
Do we offer Bulk Billing?
As a policy we don't advertise Bulk Billing consultations. But we do recognise that there
isn't a public endocrinology service in the Geelong region (outside of the Diabetes Referral Centre) and that we have an obligation to make endocrinology care affordable to those who are vulnerable. Please let us know if you feel any of your clients are unable to pay and we can discuss alternative billing options with them prior to the appointment.
Direct Private Admissions
In some cases where hospitilisation is required in a clinically stable patient, we can directly admit to the private hospitals. Please call us to discuss individual cases where this may be possible. We offer a 24 hour oncall service for inpatient referrals from specialists at the Epworth and St John of God.
Call via Epworth Switch for the endocrinologist oncall (5271-7777).
Allied Health Services
The high risk foot service will be available to see new and review patients.
Our diabetes nurse educator will also be available for new and review patients. She is able to see patients outside of Team Care arrangements).
